Meet the Artist Behind the Masterpiece: Fabiana Quispe comes from the Quispe Family, other featured artists, and she learned by watching her father at work as well as other artisans in her village. She enjoyed creating her own designs and eventually decided to be immersed in the wonderful world of jewelry. When she first started, she crafted small pieces with simple designs to gain practice and be able to earn and save enough to buy her own materials and tools. She began to work alongside her parents and relatives in 2001 but, now that she has her own family, she decided to become independent so that she could provide for them. One of the most interesting lessons she learned was about polishing, as she could polish everything except for the actual jewelry — her nails would end up being polished, or she would end up perforating the silver.
