She describes herself as a happy, honest, responsible, and slightly strict person. Born in 1983 in Quiché, she grew up in an orphanage in San Lucas Toliman.

At first, Zandra and her husband struggled to sell their silver jewelry, having no clients. One day, when they couldn't afford food, Zandra visited her son's pediatrician, who bought a few pieces, becoming their first client. The first item Zandra made on her own was a pair of silver earrings, as her husband taught her so she could assist him. She remembers watching him work late into the night and was inspired to learn jewelry-making.
